Sailing to Salvation

In this sermon, we are drawn into the story of Noah in Genesis 6:9–22. While the world was filled with violence and corruption, Noah “walked in fellowship with God” and found favor in His sight. God revealed His plan to bring judgment through the flood but also provided a way of salvation through the ark. Noah’s faith was not abstract—it was expressed in concrete obedience. He built the ark exactly as God commanded, trusting in what he could not yet see.

Prem highlights that Noah’s story is both warning and hope. Judgment is real—sin cannot be ignored forever. Yet God’s mercy is also real—He makes a covenant and provides a rescue plan. Noah models the kind of faith that takes God at His word and acts accordingly, even when others mock or doubt. His obedience preserved not only his life but also his family and the future of creation.

For us today, the ark points us to Christ. Just as the ark carried Noah through the waters of judgment, Jesus carries us through the judgment of sin into new life. The challenge is clear: Will we, like Noah, trust and obey even when God’s instructions seem costly, slow, or misunderstood by the world?

Key Takeaways:

  • Noah’s faith was proven through action—he built the ark before seeing the flood.
  • God’s judgment is real, but so is His mercy and covenant love.
  • Obedience often feels costly, but it is always the path to life.
  • Noah’s salvation was not just personal—it extended to his family and to creation.
  • The ark foreshadows Christ, our true place of refuge and salvation.
  • Faith means preparing today for what God has promised tomorrow.

Reflection: What is the “ark” God is calling you to build—an act of obedience, a step of faith—before you ever see the flood?
