God who gives blessings

In this sermon, we return to the very beginning—Genesis 1:1–31—where God spoke the universe into existence. From formless chaos came light, sky, land, and life. Each day reveals God’s power, creativity, and care, and each concludes with the same refrain: “And God saw that it was good.” Humanity, made in God’s image, is given stewardship over creation, entrusted with a sacred role to reflect His character and rule with wisdom.

The preacher highlights that creation is not an accident, nor are we. The universe bears the fingerprint of a purposeful Creator who delights in beauty and order. Every sunrise, every star, every breath is a reminder that we live in a world sustained by God’s word. Yet the passage also challenges us: do we treat creation as a gift to steward, or as a resource to exploit? Do we see ourselves as bearers of God’s image, or as consumers seeking our own gain?

The sermon concludes with an invitation to worship the Creator not just with our songs, but with our lives. To honor Him by how we live in relationship with others, with creation, and with Him. Creation was declared “very good”—and through Christ, God is at work restoring what sin has marred.

Key Takeaways:

  • Creation is not random—it is God’s intentional, ordered work.
  • Every part of creation reflects God’s goodness and glory.
  • Humanity is uniquely made in God’s image and entrusted with stewardship.
  • The refrain “it was good” reminds us of God’s delight in what He made.
  • Our worship includes how we care for creation and for one another.
  • Christ is restoring creation and renewing God’s original intent.

Reflection: Do you see your life as part of God’s good creation—and how will you reflect His image in the way you live, work, and steward his gifts?
