PCM launches a fellowship of vocations
A ‘call’ is God’s special way of meeting someone.
A ‘call’ has many origins. It can be a feeling that we struggle with, or a hidden attraction to a role in the community, or a small voice that speaks to us, or something direct that, like a particular event, appeals to us, or the result of a drastic change in our lives.
There are juvenile vocations and there are late vocations. Vocation comes from the Latin ‘vocare’ and properly means a call. We are being worked on from within, and we often don’t know who to share what’s going on inside us. So, we shut ourselves away in silence.
Most people who feel a call are struggling with themselves. This silence betrays them because others see what is happening and affirm their call or vocation.
At PCM, most of our servants, elders, catechists, pastors and others are either close to retirement age or well past it. Our community needs new blood in its ministerial leadership, catechesis, parish councils and in many other areas.
To deal with this situation, PCM has asked pastor David White to lead a ‘Vocations Fellowship’ to help all those who feel a call to serve to have a place to talk and to be accompanied. Pastor White will be assisted by other pastors and speakers.
Ministry is not exclusively pastoral or catechetical. Ministry means serving. The Church is a population of ministers, i.e., a population of servants. There is a diversity of gifts and a diversity of ministries.
All those who feel a call from the Lord to serve in any ministry are asked to make themselves known to the pastor of their parish to join the ‘Fellowship of Vocations’.
The ‘Fellowship of Vocations’ is intended to be a space of discernment, a journey together , of fellowship to better detect our distinct call. The sessions will take place on a monthly basis starting on Saturday 24 May 2025 from 09:30 to 12:30. The venue will be announced in the coming days.
