CEVAA coordination team in Mauritius

Published on 23 January 2024

Cevaa (Community of Churches in Mission), partner of the PCM, did us the honor of choosing Mauritius to hold of its Coordination Assembly from January 15 to 21, 2024. The delegates (around twenty), were stayed at the Gold Crest Hotel in Quatre Bornes.

During their stay they had meetings with certain key forces in our Church Community, in particular with young people and the Presbyterial committee. The Cevaa coordination team is made up of two technical teams:

  1. Youth animation: those who wish to study (specialization, animation, etc.)
  2. Projects: development assistance and financing, depending on demand.

During the meeting with the PCM’s Presbyterial committee on January 19th at the Karibu Café, in St Columba. Mrs. Claudia Schultz, General Secretary of Cevaa, gave the history of Cevaa, founded in 1971, 36 Churches and 25 countries are members, including the Reformed, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist and Evangelical Churches. Let us also highlight, among this coordination team, the presence of members of DEFAP (French Evangelical Department of Apostolic Action) which is a Protestant service.

On January 21st, the delegates were distributed to our different parishes for Sunday worship.

Let us emphasize that this International Assembly had the unique distinction of being held during the passage of cyclone Belal.
