Bible Sunday

Published on 26 November 2023

Like every year, the Presbyterian Church of Mauritius commemorates Bible Sunday on the 1st Sunday in December. This year’s theme is: The Word of God, reconciliation for the world. The offering on Sunday 3 December will be given to the Bible Society of Mauritius, which has sent us the following message.

On this Bible Day, the theme chosen by the Bible Society reminds us that the Word of God is a precious and powerful treasure of reconciliation that has been gifted to us. Are we using it as such for ourselves and for others? Today, the Word calls us to remain alert and be agents of peace and reconciliation in a troubled world.

Here are some prayer requests for today:

  • For our own reconciliation to God in Jesus Christ.
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
  • For more reconciliation, forgiveness and understanding within families for zero domestic violence.
“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” (Isaiah 55:7)
  • For the unity of Christians, members of the body of Christ.
“that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:21)
  • For an end to the wars currently ravaging the world, particularly in Ukraine and Palestine.
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ” (John 1:4-5)

We thank you for your prayers and your donations to the work of translating and spreading
the Word for a world reconciled to God.
